Data retention period
For security, GOV.UK Notify only keeps a temporary record of:
- the content of the emails, text messages and letters you send
- recipient email addresses, mobile numbers and addresses
By default, we delete this data after 7 days.
Once the data has been deleted, we cannot retrieve it.
How to download a report of your sent messages
- Go to the dashboard.
- Select emails sent, text messages sent or letters sent.
- Select Download this report (CSV).
We strongly recommend that you do this on a regular basis.
How to change your data retention period
- Go to the Settings page.
- Select Change on the Data retention period row.
You can choose anything between 3 and 90 days.
